The Story Behind Marble Voyage
Marble Voyage grew out of a frustration that anyone who has worked in a small game studio or a one-person design shop will recognise: the gap between a good idea and a usable 3D asset was enormous, expensive, and slow. When Daiki Kobayashi started the project in late 2022, he was contracting for a mobile game developer in Fukuoka and watching talented designers spend three days on a single prop that would appear on screen for four seconds. He wanted to close that gap without asking designers to compromise on quality.
The first internal build went live in spring 2023 and was rough in all the ways you would expect. Topology was inconsistent, UV seams showed up in the wrong places, and the…
Your ideas, rendered in three dimensions.
With respect
Daiki Kobayashi studied information engineering at Kyushu University before spending five years as a technical artist at a mid-size game studio in Fukuoka, where he built automated LOD pipelines and shader libraries. In 2022 he left to start Marble Voyage after noticing how much studio time was lost to repetitive asset work that a well-trained model could handle. He spends most mornings reviewing model outputs and writing the weekly changelog, and keeps a small FDM printer on his desk to test STL exports by hand.
